[S2E2] Standing Alone

SEAS is an individualized exercise program adapted to all situations of conservative treatment of scoliosis: stand-alone in low-medium degree curves during growth to reduce the risk of bracing; complimentary to bracing in medium-high degree curves during growth, with the aim to increase correction, prepare weaning, and avoid/reduce side-effects; for adults either progressing or fused, to help stabilising the curve and reduce disability.

[S2E2] Standing Alone

The SEAS works with a specific difference with bracing: in fact, while an orthotic device can change continuously the posture of the patient making it somehow fixed [14-29], exercises can only determine behavioural and automatic changes of movement and posture through different motor control strategies [8,17-19]. This is particularly important for a bodily system like the trunk and spine, that has been demonstrated to be driven more by automatic, feed-forward schemes than voluntary control [8]. Moreover, as shown by Stokes, active movement is more effective than passive positioning in determining changes of spinal deformity [20]: this is one of the reasons for an active exercises approach as a stand-alone treatment or coupled with bracing according to the so-called active bracing principle [21,22]. In this theoretical framework, SEAS exercises are based on autocorrection and stabilisation.

For this patient it has been chosen to perform the self-correction in the coronal plane, since he/she is not able at this stage to integrate a true and complete three-dimensional self correction. The task required the patient to move from the sitting position to the standing position while preserving the self- corrected posture throughout the exercise. The patient should carry out the exercise in ten to twelve seconds.

The patient was in a seated position (Figure 9) and started to perform the correction of the right thoraco-lumbar curve with a lateral translation towards the upper part of the thoraco-lumbar section towards the concave side (from the right to the left) (Figure 10). The patient leaned forward while preserving the physiological sagittal curves and the correction on the coronal plane (Figure 11). The patient reached the standing position and maintained the corrected posture (Figure 12). The patient relaxed from the self- corrected position (Figure 13).

The patient is standing in front of a wall at approximately 80 cm distance (Figure 14). In this example the patient performs only the thoracic self-correction in the horizontal plane with a counterclockwise rotation, and stabilizes the lumbar spine as much as he/she can (Figure 15). The patient falls against the wall, landing >on both hands and keeping the self-correction (Figure 16). The patient bends the elbows and then pushes back with the arms (Figure 17) in order to return to the starting position without losing the self- corrected posture (Figure 18). The patient relaxes, losing the self-corrected posture (Figure 19).

According to SOSORT Guidelines treatment lasts until the risk of progression is eliminated. Typically in medium degree curves (below 20-25), that are the scoliosis treated with SEAS exercises alone, treatment stops at European Risser 3. In patients wearing a brace, usually treatment lasts longer: in this case SEAS exercises are stopped 3 months after weaning definitively the brace, to help the final spinal stabilization in the first months without the brace.

I played about 20 minutes of Outlast 2 standing alone in a dark, lightproof booth at PAX East 2016. I haven't a clue what the game is about, beyond the setup: You play as Blake Langerman, a cameraman who, along with your wife, Lynn, are investigating the murder of a pregnant woman. You begin aboard a helicopter that crashes in the Arizona desert.

You wake up alone, on a night lit only by the moon. You find your camcorder and glasses and run to a shack in the distance. Beyond that is a farm to investigate in a frantic search for Lynn. Sometimes, you find something interesting. Sometimes, out of the corner of your eye, you think you see something. Sometimes, Lynn screams in terror off-screen.

The Christmas classic sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, isn't well regarded when compared to its predecessor, but it's basically movie heaven for those who love New York at Christmastime. There isn't home alone-ing in Home Alone 2, as Kevin basically just wanders around New York like a kid set free on vacation.

Kevin walks around the city and passes by Radio City Music Hall. This is a famous and beloved part of NYC and is still standing today, with many tourists and residents alike attending performances here. Right now, people can attend the show called "Christmas Spectacular Starring The Radio City Rockettes."

One of the most iconic images of the movie is the zoom-out shot of Kevin standing on top of the south World Trade Center. But even before that, viewers see Kevin walking up some stairs into the complex itself with the two iconic buildings proudly standing in the background.

Held: The officers' actions did not violate the Fourth Amendment. This case, involving a brief encounter between a citizen and a police officer on a public street, is governed by Terry, under which an officer who has a reasonable, articulable suspicion that criminal activity is afoot may conduct a brief, investigatory stop. While "reasonable suspicion" is a less demanding standard than probable cause, there must be at least a minimal level of objective justification for the stop. An individual's presence in a "high crime area," standing alone, is not enough to support a reasonable, particularized suspicion of criminal activity, but a location's characteristics are relevant in determining whether the circumstances are sufficiently suspicious to warrant further investigation, Adams v. Williams, 407 U. S. 143,144,147-148. In this case, moreover, it was also Wardlow's unprovoked flight that aroused the officers' suspicion. Nervous, evasive behavior is another pertinent factor in determining reasonable suspicion, e. g., United States v. Brignoni-Ponce, 422 U. S. 873, 885, and headlong flight is the consummate act of evasion. In reviewing the propriety of an officer's conduct, courts do not have available empirical studies dealing with inferences from suspicious behavior, and this Court cannot reasonably demand scientific certainty when none exists. Thus, the reasonable suspicion determination must be based on commonsense judgments and inferences about human behavior. See

You can see how the blue wave moving towards the right side and the red wave moving towards the left side with the same velocity create the green standing wave. Turn frequency up to better observe this effect.

Mathematically this can easily be seen:Let the waves be given by $A \cos(kx-\omega t)$ and $A \cos(kx+\omega t)$. If we superpose both of them, then according to the sum formula for the cosine (source) the sum of them (i.e. the resulting wave) is $2A\cos(\omega t)\cos(kx)$. This wave has a spatial dependence that is nonvarying in time and is thus standing. I do not know why the definition says that they need to have the right wavelength, maybe I'm not seeing something here. But to cancel out, the waves would need to be exactly of opposite sign and magnitude at each point and time. For this to happen, we would need e.g. $A \cos(kx-\omega t)$ and $-A \cos(kx-\omega t)=A \cos(\pi-kx+\omega t)$. Adding them, we obtain a term $\cos(\frac\pi2)=0$ and the resulting amplitude is really zero. So this is the type of wave that cancels our initial wave.

If you know the formulae for adding cosines etc., you may see that$$y_+(x,t)+y_-(x,t) = 2\sin\omega t \cdot \cos kx $$So that's a standing wave. The dependence on $x$ is purely $\cos kx$, up to an overall normalization. The shape doesn't change. Only the total amplitude changes as a function of time, as $2\sin\omega t$. Note that when $y(x,t)=0$ for all $x$ and a certain moment $t$, it doesn't mean that the energy has disappeared. The potential/tension energy in $y$ disappears but at that moment, the speed of $y$ and therefore the kinetic energy is maximized.

So the standing wave pattern is so called because of the presents of positions where there is no movement of the medium (nodes) there being no net transfer of momentum or energy but there is energy associated with the standing wave itself.

I do not know if you have yet studied two source interference but in some ways the interference pattern has a resemblance to a standing wave pattern and is a standing wave pattern on a line joining the two sources.

Muscular fitness corresponds to the level of muscular strength of both the upper and the lower limbs and an evaluation strongly associated with tests for the upper (basketball throw and push-ups) and lower limbs (countermovement jump and squat jump) is the standing broad jump (SBJ).7 This test is designed to measures lower limb muscular fitness and explosive muscular strength of children, adolescents and adults.7,8 Moreover, this test provides the opportunity to monitor gains after training, to identify sports talent and for pre-recruitment testing in institutions where other measurement instruments are not applicable.9 Finally, the SBJ is considered the most valid and reliable field-based muscular fitness test in children and adolescents,7,10,11 and is also applied to measure anaerobic power of the lower limbs.9

Takemichi realizes that he is not alone and tells Chifuyu everything about coming to change the past, as Chifuyu gave up his life for him in the future. Chifuyu not only believes him but also tells him that he respects him for fighting on his own all this time. 041b061a72
